Enter our Annual Student Paper Competition

The Massachusetts Gerontology Association is now accepting papers for its annual student award program. The goals of the program are to recognize individuals who show an interest in gerontology and to reward outstanding graduate students for academic excellence in the field of gerontology. The cash award is presented for a paper written in the course of the student's graduate studies.

Requirements for the paper are:

  • The paper was written as part of the student's course of study during one of the following semesters: Spring, 2009; Summer, 2009; Fall, 2009, Spring 2010.
  • The paper is on a topic relevant to the field of gerontology.
  • The paper is no longer than 25 pages in length (excluding appended tables).
  • The paper is accompanied by an abstract of no more than 100 words.
  • The paper is accompanied by a recommendation from the student's advisor/mentor.

The selection committee must receive the paper no later than April 9th, 2010.

A committee of MGA representatives will read all nominated papers and make a selection based upon readability, potential for contribution to the field, originality, and professional insight. The award (s) will be presented at the MGA annual meeting on May 6, 2010, to be held at the Heller School, Brandeis University.
