Enter our Annual Student Poster Competition
The Massachusetts Gerontology Association is announcing its 8th annual poster session that will be held during its annual meeting on May 6, 2010. The poster session will provide students with an opportunity to present their scholarship and to receive professional recognition. One or more cash prizes will be awarded to the best poster presentations with the winner announced at the meeting. All students who present a poster at the meeting will be given a one-year membership in MGA.
Requirements for the poster session are:
- Applicants must be current students (graduate or undergraduate) or have graduated after December 1, 2009.
- Posters may be concerned with research, policy analyses, or descriptions of best practices in the aging field.
- Applicants must submit a 200-word abstract describing their project. Abstracts must include the names of authors, their institutional affiliations and e-mail addresses.
- Lead authors must be active students or recent graduates; Non students may be listed as secondary authors.
- Applicants do not have to be MGA members.
- Lead authors of accepted posters are expected to be present at the annual meeting to present their poster.
The selection committee must receive an abstract of the poster no later than April 16th, 2010. Students will be notified by April 21st, 2010 via email if their abstract is accepted.
MGA requests your assistance in encouraging current students or recent graduates to submit proposals.
A committee of MGA representatives will read nominated poster abstracts and will select posters to be presented based on readability, potential for contribution to the field, originality, significance of the student contribution, and professional insight shown. A review panel will judge the posters during the meeting to determine the winners of the annual poster award.
The posters and award(s) will be presented at the MGA Annual Meeting on May 6th, 2010. Please note, judging and awards for the poster presentations are separate from the annual paper award.
